About this Role
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Volunteer Teaching Assistants to join the team at Coleridge Primary School. This voluntary role is ideal for individuals who are at the beginning of their employment journey, exploring a career in education, or looking to gain experience working in a classroom setting. You will support teachers in delivering engaging learning activities, help pupils to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment, and play a part in the wider life of the school.
This is a valuable opportunity to develop practical experience in a school setting, enhance your skills in working with children, and gain a deeper understanding of the day-to-day workings of a primary school. We offer support, guidance, and training as part of the placement, and will provide a reference upon successful completion.
Coleridge Primary School is an Outstanding (Ofsted-rated) one-form entry primary school located in the centre of Rotherham. As part of the Central Learning Partnership Trust (CLPT), we work collaboratively with two other schools, sharing expertise and best practices to continually enhance our provision. KEY PURPOSE OF THE POST.
Support pupils with their learning, both individually and in small groups, under the direction of the class teacher.
Assist in preparing resources, setting up learning activities, and maintaining a positive and safe learning environment.
Support children with social skills, behaviour, and emotional development.
Model positive interactions and behaviour, helping children to meet the school's expectations.
Promote inclusion and ensure that every child is treated with dignity and respect.
Observe and engage with children's learning, contributing to a culture of encouragement and curiosity.
Provide support to the class teacher and wider staff team as needed.
Be willing to learn and undertake training appropriate to the role.
Uphold the school's ethos and values at all times.

CHILDCARE (DISQUALIFCATION) (Applicable to Primary aged Schools)
In accordance with the Childcare Act 2006 and the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulation 2009 the Governors are required to obtain an additional staff disqualification declaration for employees within settings providing care for early years childcare (this covers the age range from birth until 1st September following a child's fifth birthday i.e. up to and including reception age) or later years childcare (this covers children above reception age but who have not attained the age of 8) in nursery, primary or secondary school educational settings, or if when directly concerned with the management of such childcare related establishments. This declaration is to confirm that you are not disqualified 'by association' to anyone currently residing within your household who is disqualified under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulation 2009
