Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified accountant to become our Treasurer. This is an unpaid volunteer role for Zebra, who are an exempt charity.
The ideal candidate will have experience of other charity organisations.
We have an active board and trustees work closely with the executive team to make a real and valuable contribution to the effectiveness and governance of the organisation. It is a friendly and collegiate environment, where members are supported to learn and develop skills and knowledge across a range of areas and expertise.
Zebra has been operating for over 60 years and provides accommodation to students, mainly international students studying in London.
Duties
To attend approximately four board meetings a year, on Thursday afternoons on Zoom. To attend one strategy day per year - usually in London - expenses will be paid. To communicate with Executive Team members and the Finance Manager to offer support where required. To Chair the Audit and Risk Committee and liaise with auditors when required.
Experience
Qualified Accountant Experience of charity sector - either as a trustee or ideally in a staff role Optional - experience of student accommodation or similar. Could include personal experience of having lives in student accommodation or having been an international student.
