Afghan Association Paiwand is a registered charity and limited company founded in 2002. We support Afghan and wider refugee and migrant communities in the UK by reducing poverty, advancing education, and providing relief through a wide range of services--including advocacy, social support, accommodation, youth services, education projects, and mental health counselling.

We currently assist over 1,800 beneficiaries annually across Northwest London.

The Role



We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our Board of Trustees as the Education Lead. This important role involves providing strategic oversight and leadership for Paiwand's education projects, ensuring they meet the needs of vulnerable children and young people in our communities.

As a Trustee, you will contribute to Paiwand's governance, support the organisation's mission, and champion the advancement of education among refugee and migrant populations.

Key Responsibilities



Provide leadership and strategic guidance on Paiwand's education programmes. Monitor and support the delivery and impact of education projects. Advocate for the educational needs of refugees and migrants within the board and externally. Assist in fundraising efforts and partnership building related to education. Attend quarterly board meetings and contribute to governance and decision-making. Participate in annual strategy days and key charity events such as AGMs. Support the organisation's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Who We're Looking For

Essential:



Commitment to the values and mission of Afghan Association Paiwand. Strong interest or experience in education, community development, or related fields. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to contribute time and expertise to governance and strategic discussions.

Desirable:



Previous trustee or governance experience. Understanding of issues facing refugee and migrant children and families. Experience in education policy, project management, or fundraising. Connections within the education sector or relevant networks.

Time Commitment



Quarterly board meetings (online or in-person). Flexible time for ad hoc activities and committee involvement. Attendance at annual strategy days and occasional events.
