Volunteer Trustee for the Harry Edwards Healing Foundation

Are you passionate about holistic healing and spirituality? Do you want to make a meaningful impact on people's lives? If so, we invite you to join our team as a Volunteer Trustee. You will play a vital role in guiding our foundation's mission to ensure the legacy of Harry Edwards lives on and brings healing to all.

Where can you help? We are looking for likeminded and committed individuals with an interest in Healing and or Holistic Therapies to help take the Foundation to the next level and see the bigger picture. We are looking for experience in growing and turning charities around, financial skills, knowledge of the Charity Commission and creative business experience. We're particularly interested in hearing from you if you have previous experience of trusteeship / management of a small charity; a business background; fundraising, charity governance and/or experience in the healing, physic, health and wellbeing sector. However, this should not deter you if you are looking for your first Trustee role.

Who we are:

The Harry Edwards Foundation, a world-renowned healing organisation in the Surrey Hills is a charity with a mission to bring healing to all. It is the home of spiritual healing for people all over the world with a unique healer training academy.

At our peaceful country house setting we provide spiritual healing therapy to support people of all ages with their health and wellbeing in a caring, friendly, and supportive environment. We are a small self-funded charity reliant entirely on fundraising and donations to provide the income needed each year to run our sanctuary. The organisation took on charitable status in 1966 supporting people within person and distance healing locally, nationally and internationally.

The Charity is run by a small team and 80+ volunteers. The charity supports the remarkable achievements of Harry Edwards and his legacy of donation-based healing for all. We offer various holistic workshops and programs, including animal therapy, yoga, meditation and mindfulness, as well as running our own Healing Academy that support individuals on their journey toward healing and self-discovery.

Role Summary

As a Volunteer Trustee, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of our foundation. You will work collaboratively with fellow trustees and Management team to ensure the foundation achieves its mission and adheres to its values and continues the legacy of Harry Edwards. This is an unpaid role, but the personal and spiritual rewards are abundant.

You will be expected to make every effort to attend Board Meetings, which are held every 4-6 weeks, in person but on occasions via a video link.

In addition, hold meetings on specific subjects from time to time, which you will be asked to attend, as well as your occasional attendance at events and Academy days.

Key Responsibilities

Governance

: Participate in board meetings to discuss and make decisions on the foundation's policies, programs, and business direction and see the bigger picture.

Strategic Planning

: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans that align with the foundation's mission and goals, without losing the essence of Harry's Legacy. Financial Oversight: Review and monitor the foundation's financial performance and ensure proper financial controls are in place to preserve the foundations legacy funds.

Fundraising

: Assist in fundraising efforts and help secure financial resources to support the foundation's activities.

Advocacy

: Act as an ambassador for the foundation, promoting its mission and values within the community.

Compliance

: Ensure the foundation complies with the Charity Commission legal and regulatory requirements.

Experience

Passion & Commitment

: A deep-seated passion for holistic healing, spirituality, well-being, and personal growth is essential. We seek individuals who are committed to fostering a compassionate and supportive environment.

Professional Experience

: Proven experience as a business influencer or change manager is crucial. While prior experience as a trustee or board member is desirable, it is not mandatory.

Life Experience

: We value diverse backgrounds and the unique perspectives that come from living individual lives. Your life experiences can enrich our foundation's mission and bring a fresh outlook to our initiatives.

Skills

: Strong leadership, effective communication, and exceptional organisational skills are vital for this role. Your ability to inspire and guide others will be a key asset.
