Location: Holmes Chapel Zoo, Cheshire

Part-time, flexible hours - minimum one day per week

Volunteer Zoo Keeper

and gain hands-on experience helping care for a wide range of animals - from meerkats and skunks to reptiles, birds, and small mammals.

As a local community zoo, we rely on our volunteers to help us deliver the highest standards of animal welfare, education, and visitor experience. Whether you're looking to build your zoo career, give back to the community, or simply get closer to nature, this role could be for you.

What You'll Do:

Assist with daily cleaning and feeding routines Help prepare enrichment and observe animal behaviour Support keepers with enclosure maintenance Learn species-specific care practices Engage with visitors and answer basic questions when needed Follow health, safety and hygiene protocols at all times

What We're Looking For:

A genuine interest in animals, wildlife or conservation Reliable and committed - minimum one regular day per week Happy to get stuck in with physical, sometimes messy, work A team player who listens, learns, and takes instruction well Over 18s only (for insurance and safety reasons) Previous animal experience is helpful but not essential - full training is provided
