Here at Chessington World of Adventures we are recruiting for a Zoo Keeper to join our Animal Presentations team!


This section is home to a variety of species, including California sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and a small display team of owls, among others. The position offers a dual role, with responsibilities split between both birds and sea lions.


You will be responsible for carrying out and overseeing the daily husbandry and training of the animals in your care, with a strong focus on positive-reinforcement techniques. Duties will include enclosure cleaning, diet preparation, accurate record keeping, and site maintenance.


In addition, you will plan, evaluate, and implement environmental enrichment programs to promote the physical and mental wellbeing of the animals. A key part of the role will also involve delivering engaging, high-quality animal talks, demonstrations, and other guest-facing activities that provide our guests with memorable and educational experiences.

Qualifications & Experience

A minimum of three years' experience in a zoo environment DMZAA or equivalent qualification is desirable Excellent time management and good organisation skills Demonstrable skills in positive reinforcement training are vital Experience in the training of free flight bird and marine mammals is preferable A good understanding and experience in working with a broad range of taxa Ability to stay focused and in control under pressure Excellent spoken and written communication skills Experience in delivering animal talks and demonstrations
