Are you passionate about empowering people, building community connections, and creating positive and inclusive experiences for volunteers?
At The Pankhurst Trust (incorporating Manchester Women's Aid), volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, from empowering survivors of domestic abuse, to keeping the legacy of the Pankhurst family and the story of women's fight for equality alive.
We believe that volunteering should be meaningful, inclusive and empowering. We want every volunteer to feel welcomed, supported and proud of the difference they make. We also want their voices, and the voices of women across Greater Manchester, to shape services and influence change.
We're looking for a
Volunteering & Community Lead
who shares this vision.
In this role, you will:
Lead the way in creating a supportive volunteer experience that helps people grow in skills, confidence and belonging.
Facilitate inclusive forums and panels that amplify women's voices and ensure their lived experience drives service improvements and regional policy.
Support managers and staff to involve, supervise and develop volunteers.
Build strong partnerships with community groups and networks, opening up opportunities and reducing barriers to participation.
Help shape and deliver training that empowers volunteers and strengthens our wider community connections.
What will you bring?
You'll have some experience of volunteer management or community engagement, with a focus on inclusion and empowerment.
You'll have excellent facilitation skills, and the ability to create safe, supportive spaces where everyone can contribute and be heard.
You will know about the principles of community organising, and how it can be used to empower communities to create change.
You'll also bring a collaborative style, the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse communities and partner organisations, and a compassionate, people-focused approach.
What's in it for you?
We offer lots of great benefits including enhanced pay for expectant parents, a generous holiday allowance of 25 days plus bank holidays, above statutory pension contributions and a confidential employee advice service. We're committed to helping you achieve a healthy balance between your work and home life through a real commitment to flexible working. We also provide access to great training and development, helping you to gain valuable experience and grow your career at PTMWA and beyond.
PTMWA is committed to being an inclusive and equitable employer. We value diversity and believe that the different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences of our staff strengthen the support we provide to survivors of domestic abuse. We actively welcome applications from across the community and aim for our workforce to reflect the communities we serve.
This is a unique opportunity to work with some wonderful teams and truly inspiring women. Please note that, in line with the Equality Act 2010 (schedule 9, part 1), this role is open to women only.
PTMWA also recognises that, in some circumstances, it is both lawful and necessary to provide single-sex services under the Equality Act 2010. We respect and support people in line with their gender identity, while also maintaining and promoting the need for single-sex services in certain settings.
