Job Title: Volunteering Manager



Location:

Multiple locations including Maidstone, Canterbury Station and Faversham Station (hybrid working available)

Salary:

Grade 7 - 43,151 - 48,812 per annum, depending on experience

Hours:

Full time 37 hours per week

Ref:

R000938

The post holder will be required to work outside of normal office hours including evenings and weekends (where necessary) to attend events, training and inducting new volunteers and, on occasion, at incidents where the Volunteer Response Team has been requested to attend.

As our Volunteering Manager, you'll be at the heart of an award-winning scheme that supports those affected by real life emergencies - right when they need help the most.

You'll manage day-to-day volunteer activity, supporting our Volunteer Response Team (VRT) at the front line of customer welfare, ensuring every volunteer has the skills, support and inspiration they need to make a meaningful impact.

What You'll Achieve:



Develop and deliver a strategic vision that fosters a thriving, diverse volunteer community. Shape the policies, practices and standards of an inclusive volunteer scheme that reflects our values and mission. Build partnerships and networks across the community to expand volunteer reach and enhance diversity. Design innovative programs to attract, develop and retain volunteers with the skills and passion to serve. Lead training initiatives that inspire confidence, skill and commitment among our volunteers. Ensure every volunteer activity is safe, impactful, and delivered with care, ensuring to uphold the highest standards of health, safety and safeguarding. Track progress, tell our volunteering story, provide reports and insights to improve how we work and celebrate our successes. Drive excellence and maintain our award-winning status as a standout volunteering organisation.

Who You Are:



A visionary leader with ILM Level 5 in Leadership and Management, or equivalent experience in volunteer management.

Motivational, proactive, and deeply people-focused with experience managing volunteers and a passion for purpose-driven leadership. Confident and calm under pressure, able to adapt quickly and support others in fast-paced environments. An exceptional communicator, skilled in engaging varied audiences across print, digital and online channels. A detail-oriented team leader who balances strategy with empathy--and can inspire others to achieve their best. Experience of developing and undertaking activities in line with health,?safety,?and safeguarding guidelines, and conducting risk assessments.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to develop a plan for one of the KFRS volunteering objectives as part of our Investing in Volunteers development plan. This will need to be done in advance and presented at the interview. A short test will be carried out at the start of the interview. Details will be provided when shortlisted candidates are contacted to book their interview slot.
