About The Role:

Walr is looking for a visionary VP, People to join our team and lead the people strategy, in a high-impact, strategic leadership role shaping the future of our People, Talent and Culture agenda. This role is about setting the people strategy, delivering a high-quality, scalable employee experience and a very hands-on role building a high-performance culture across our global business. You'll work closely with leaders across the business to support our goals, enhance our people processes, and help safeguard our culture as we scale. You're a commercially astute, pragmatic leader with proven experience scaling organisations, shaping high-impact people strategies, and delivering measurable outcomes.

Walr is at a pivotal point, scaling fast across markets, evolving our offering and sharpening our commercial edge. With strong foundations in place, this next chapter is about building with more intention - more clarity, more pace, and more ambition. It's an exciting time to join: you'll be stepping into a business hungry for smart, people-centered leadership to help shape what comes next.

Key Responsibilities:

Set and own the global People strategy, ensuring it's tightly aligned with business goals and evolves with the pace and complexity of scale. Build and deliver a high-impact, scalable employee experience - from onboarding to exit with a focus on clarity, performance and belonging. Partner closely with the executive and senior leadership team to embed a high-performance, feedback-driven culture that supports growth and accountability. Strengthen and evolve core people processes (performance, reward, development, engagement, employee relations) with pragmatism and pace. Champion talent and succession planning, ensuring we have the right capabilities and mindset in the right roles as we grow. Act as a steward of culture, translating values into behaviours, systems, and everyday leadership. Use data and insight to influence decisions, identify gaps and measure the impact of people initiatives. Lead and support a small People & Culture team, ensuring the function is seen as a trusted, strategic enabler across the business.

Desired Experience:

Proven experience in a senior People leadership role within a high-growth, international scale-up. Demonstrated ability to build and lead people strategies that drive performance, engagement, and culture, ideally from early-stage through to post-Series B/C. Strong commercial acumen and experience partnering directly with executive teams to align people initiatives with business outcomes. Track record of evolving and operationalising core people processes (performance, reward, L&D, engagement, employee relations) in a pragmatic, non-bureaucratic way. Experience leading or deeply partnering on global People initiatives (ideally across Europe, North America, and APAC). Comfortable being both strategic and hands-on and equally confident in the boardroom and in the detail. Strong data literacy with experience using people insights to drive decisions and influence at leadership level. Values-led, low-ego leadership style with a natural ability to build trust and bring others with you. Bonus: experience leading teams through change or transformation (e.g. reorgs, investment rounds, or rapid scale).

Desired Skills & Attributes:

Strategic & Commercial Acumen

Able to align people priorities with business goals, influence at the most senior levels, and drive measurable impact through smart, scalable people practices.

Leadership & Culture Stewardship

Leads with credibility and care, sets high standards, and actively shapes a culture of performance, inclusion, and accountability across the business.

Executional Excellence

Comfortable moving between strategy and detail, delivering with pace and precision - whether building from scratch or evolving what exists.

Strong Emotional Intelligence & Communication

A trusted voice in the room who is empathetic, clear, and confident. Builds strong relationships and navigates sensitive situations with maturity and intent.
