Job Description

DB Cargo UK is currently recruiting for a Wagon Maintainer to join our Asset Management and Maintenance department based in Cardiff.


As a Wagon Maintainer, you'll co-operate with the Maintenance Team Co-ordinator and the wider team to ensure that all work associated with the maintenance, repair and overhaul of our third-party wagon fleet is completed in a safe, thorough, professional and timely manner.



The Asset Management and Maintenance team at DB Cargo UK ensure that all our wagons and locomotives are maintained and serviced on a regular basis to ensure smooth and efficient running whilst in service and the team is made up of skilled engineers and maintainers.



The salary for this role, inclusive of additional hours and shift allowance is 33,146.00 per annum.


Due to the shift working required for the role you will be entitled to an additional 1,948.00 per annual.

What will you be doing?





Setting up safe working areas in accordance with Maintenance Plan safety conditions and local safety instructions.



Adhering to Health & Safety policies as well as local safety policies and enforcing a positive safety culture.



Taking necessary action in order to remove any hazard encountered.



Routine maintenance of wagons in accordance with written specifications and including wheelset exchanges, brake block changes and safety critical work.



Using heavy industrial tools, including liftin jacks and using welding equipment (full training for this is provided).



Reporting any defective items.



Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and undertaking any training required which will assist in the development of the team and the running of the depot.

What are we looking for?





The salary for this role, inclusive of additional hours and shift allowance is 33,146.00 per annum.

Candidates must have hands on engineering experience which must be displayed on their application.



Level 2 NVQ in an Engineering Discipline



Fork lift license would be ideal, but training can be provided.



Committed to safe working practices.



Experience within a similar role in the rail sector would be an advantage, but this is not essential
