Waking Night Support Workers

to join our team at CEON Haven. Providing a nurturing and supportive home that delivers a safe and stable environment for young people.

Main Purpose of the Job:



Provide overnight supervision and emotional support for a young person within the home. Maintain a calm, safe, and structured environment throughout the night. Monitor, record, and report on wellbeing, incidents, and nightly routines. Work closely with day staff to ensure consistent care through thorough handovers. Support bedtime routines and deliver appropriate interventions when required during the night. Carry out light domestic tasks to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment.

What We're Looking For:



Experience in residential childcare, especially supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond with empathy and understanding. Effective communication, teamwork, and observation skills. High levels of emotional resilience and adaptability. NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People, or willingness to work towards this qualification. Proficient in communication, record-keeping, and collaborative working. Basic IT competence

Duties and Responsibilities:



Provide consistent overnight supervision and emotional support to the young person in the home. Ensure the child's safety, security, and wellbeing throughout the night, remaining awake and vigilant at all times. Administer medication in line with the child's care plan, policies, and procedures, ensuring accurate records are maintained. Respond to emotional or behavioural needs using trauma-informed practice, including the PACE approach. Implement proactive strategies to encourage positive behaviour and help de-escalate potential crises. Conduct regular checks, monitoring the child's physical and emotional state, and respond calmly to any incidents or disturbances. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation, including night logs, incident forms, and detailed handover notes. Support and reinforce bedtime routines, providing reassurance, structure, or redirection where necessary. Undertake light household tasks (e.g., cleaning, laundry, restocking supplies) to help maintain a safe, clean, and homely environment. Adhere to safeguarding procedures, health and safety standards, and all organisational policies at all times.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and Training



A good level of literacy Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People Workforce, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent (can be working towards). Willingness to complete all mandatory training

Experience



Minimum 1 year of experience supporting children or young people in a residential, educational, or care setting. Experience working with children who present emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) needs. Experience in following behaviour support plans and safeguarding procedures.
