Liberi Care in Tottenham is seeking a dependable and compassionate Waking Nights Residential Support Worker to join our team. This is your opportunity to help vulnerable children and young people feel safe and supported throughout the night.
This role is crucial in providing emotional stability and physical safety to young people aged 10-17 who may be experiencing trauma, anxiety, or behavioural challenges. If you're calm under pressure, emotionally resilient, and committed to helping others, we want to hear from you.
Your Role
Working through the night, you will be a steady and responsive presence within the home. Your responsibilities will centre on maintaining a calm, nurturing environment, ensuring safety, supporting emotional wellbeing, and preparing for smooth morning transitions.
Key Responsibilities
Nighttime Support and Supervision
Monitor the safety and wellbeing of young people throughout the night
Carry out regular checks and maintain a secure, calm environment
Respond promptly to behavioural or emotional incidents using trauma-informed approaches
Offer reassurance and support to children who may be anxious or distressed
Incident Management and Safeguarding
De-escalate challenging situations appropriately
Record incidents and welfare concerns clearly and accurately
Contact on-call management as needed for emergencies
Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed at all times
Health, Safety, and Medication
Conduct routine fire, room, and perimeter checks
Administer medication in line with policy and complete MAR records
Identify and respond to any health or safety concerns during your shift
Domestic and Household Duties
Maintain cleanliness in communal and kitchen areas overnight
Assist with laundry and light domestic tasks
Support breakfast preparation and early morning routines
Morning Transition
Wake young people calmly and positively
Support with personal care and morning preparation for school or activities
Promote a smooth and stable start to the day
Communication and Documentation
Keep accurate records of observations, incidents, and routines
Complete detailed handovers to ensure consistency between shifts
Maintain compliance with all recording and reporting requirements
Training and Professional Development
Participate in all mandatory training including safeguarding and first aid
Engage in supervision, debriefs, and reflective practice
Work collaboratively with day staff to ensure continuity of care
What We're Looking For
Minimum 1 year of experience in residential childcare or a similar setting (preferred)
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or currently working towards it)
Calm, nurturing, and observant approach with strong emotional resilience
Excellent communication and time management skills
Clear understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed care
Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential)
