About the Role:
We are currently looking for a committed and compassionate
Waking Night Support Worker
to join our dedicated team at a children's residential home in Kegworth. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people during the most sensitive hours of the day -- the night.
As a Waking Night Support Worker, your role will be to ensure the safety, security, and emotional wellbeing of the children throughout the night. You will offer a calm, reassuring presence, be alert to any needs that arise, and ensure a smooth transition into the next day.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people during the night shift.
Be awake and alert at all times, conducting regular welfare checks and responding to any incidents or needs.
Offer emotional support and reassurance if a child wakes distressed, anxious, or unsettled.
Accurately complete night-time logs, incident reports, and handovers.
Work closely with the day team to ensure continuity of care and communication.
Support with morning routines and handovers at the end of your shift.
Maintain a clean, calm, and organised environment throughout the home.
What We're Looking For:
Experience in residential childcare or a similar care/support role is essential.
A calm, compassionate, and resilient approach to supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs.
Strong observation and communication skills.
Ability to remain focused and proactive during quiet periods.
Flexibility and reliability to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it) is desirable.
