Waking Night Support Worker

Job Description

We are looking for experienced support workers to exclusively support our client "J", who is a 30 year old male. "J" has a wicked sense of humour and enjoys activities such as rugby, skiing, days out and going to the beach. Our client loves to be active and get out and about so it is important for the right candidate to be dynamic and outgoing and they must be proactive with organising activities for him.

"J" also loves to cook, play chess, and enjoys music and he can also speak Russian and Greek.

Our client has an acquired brain injury with associated mental health issues

currently residing in a rental property in Macclesfield SK10

as an interim measure, before moving to his forever home located in the Heywood OL10 area of Lancashire. This property is currently being built and the expected move date is approximately June 2025. We are looking for a candidate that can travel to the current property in Macclesfield and then to the new property in Heywood.

Our client has 2:1 support, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with one sleeping and one waking carer each night.

Therefore it is important that the right candidate is flexible and has a positive attitude.

"J" is a wheelchair user and has his own wheelchair assisted vehicle. He regularly goes to hydrotherapy and attends physiotherapy every day so will need someone to assist him with all therapy appointments.

The shift pattern required is:



Monday - Sunday: 24 hour 2:1 care is required. There is an established support team in place. This is a full time role for 3 x 12 hour waking night shifts and includes weekends, working on a rota basis.
There is established MDT in place who would offer the necessary training and support to the team to ensure "J" has consistency and to maximise his rehabilitation opportunities.

Rate of pay will be

per hour on weekdays and weekday waking nights and

16

per hour on weekend days and weekend waking nights. Sleeping shifts will be paid at 85 per weekday sleeping shift and 95 per weekend sleeping shift.

A private case manager is involved, working alongside the client and family. A full induction training programme will be organised in order to familiarise the successful candidate with our client's needs and complete training on his therapy programme.

. It is essential candidates are able to organise events and activities

To provide assistance with all aspects of the client's ongoing rehabilitation under the supervision of treating doctors and therapists.

To maintain a safe environment for the client, in the home and in all community-based activities (subject to completion of risk assessment training).

To follow the support programme agreed with the case manager, therapists and the client.

To assist the client with any domestic chores and promote a clean and healthy environment.

To advise the family, or where appropriate the case manager of any concerns regarding the client's physical and psychological health.

To use initiative when unforeseen events occur, and the family / case manager are not directly available to provide guidance.

To work as an individual responsible to the case manager and to ensure good communication, flexibility, and a consistent approach to care.

To attend support worker meetings and training sessions as requested.

To make a daily report following each duty regarding the client's welfare.

To liaise with the case manager for annual leave requests and alert the case manager of sickness that will prevent them working, in order that cover can be organised.

To report to the case manager regarding general progress and any incidents that may raise concern

To respect the privacy of the client. All matters relating to the client's situation and family are to be treated as confidential and are not to be disclosed to a third party.

Qualifications & Experience



A full clean driving license would be needed for this post.

The successful candidate will require 2 references and a full enhanced DBS check will be completed following acceptance of this position

A diploma in Health and Social Care level 2/ NVQ or equivalent is desirable but not essential
