The Role
As a
Waking Night Support Worker
, you will play a vital role in ensuring the
safety, wellbeing, and emotional support
of young people during night-time hours within our semi-independent accommodation services.
Many of the young people we support are unaccompanied asylum seekers and care leavers, and may experience anxiety, emotional distress, or difficulties settling at night.
You will be required to remain awake throughout the shift and provide consistent overnight support.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring the house is
settled, safe, and secure overnight
Supporting young people with
emotional difficulties, anxiety, or distress
during the night
Completing
regular building and health & safety checks
Monitoring young people's whereabouts and
reporting young people missing from home
, as and when required, in line with policy and safeguarding procedures
Completing accurate
night-time records, logs, and handovers
Undertaking
cleaning and domestic duties
, including communal areas
Working in line with
Supported Accommodation Regulations
, safeguarding procedures, and organisational policies at all times
What We're Looking For
Experience working with vulnerable young people (desirable but not essential)
Ability to work waking night shifts reliably, including weekends
A good standard of spoken and written English
Strong safeguarding awareness and ability to follow procedures
Empathy, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and professional overnight
A genuine passion for supporting young people
A relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g. QCF/NVQ in Health & Social Care or Children & Young People's Services) is desirable, or a willingness to work towards one.
