Distressed Load Assessor

to join our team in Redditch, Worcestershire. In this role, you will be crucial in managing and resolving issues related to compromised food loads.

What is DLM (Distressed Load Management)?

Distressed Load Management is a key service developed by Oakland International in 2000 aimed at providing a professionally managed solution for inspecting, sorting, and classifying loads of food which may have been compromised through the presence of clandestine infiltration by immigrants aiming to enter the UK by way of gaining access to transport vehicles or trailers.

The service has been developed and refined over the years and is recognised as the UK's leading solution for load rectification with outstanding reactivity and flexibility to offer a same-day or next-day solution for clients who require the service.

The solutions provided under the DLM classification can now include (but are not limited) to the following;

a) Clandestine infiltration

b) Load shifting (requiring re-palletisation)

c) Suspected or actual temperature abuse

d) Labelling errors

e) De-branding

f) Foods and non-foods

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

As a Distressed Load Assessor, your main responsibilities will include:

Inspecting and assessing

incoming distressed loads (DLMs).

Creating and implementing

safe action plans to deal with these loads.

Classifying and sorting

food loads that may have been compromised by issues such as clandestine infiltration, load shifting, temperature abuse, or labeling errors.

Providing accurate service information

to the customer service team to ensure they can respond to clients directly.

Producing clear documentation

of all services provided.

Liaising with customers, suppliers, and authorities

as needed.

Supporting other warehouse operations

during periods of low volume. To carry out the Distressed Load Service as per Oakland International work instructions To ensure compliance with the requirements of the BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards) for Storage and Distribution
This is a

manual role

, requiring the ability to safely move items in accordance with proper manual handling procedures. Due to the nature of the work, you may also be required to support mobile operations if a distressed load vehicle cannot reach the site, which may require some flexibility in your hours and shift pattern.

Hours:

40 hours per week

Shift:

Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Pay:

12.21 (Rising to 13.00ph upon successful completion of 12 week probation)

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a strong work ethic and the following qualifications and skills

Education/Qualifications:

Qualified in HACCP principles with a good working knowledge of the Codex Alimentarius approach. Qualified to (or working towards) Advanced Level 2 in Food Safety Requirements. MHE (Material Handling Equipment) license is desirable

Skills/Abilities:

Strong numeracy and literacy skills. Confident with Microsoft Word and Excel at an intermediate level. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
