Overview


We are seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee and enhance our warehouse operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our logistics and supply chain processes run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in warehouse management, logistics, and continuous improvement methodologies to lead our busy Northampton distribution hub. This is a hands-on role where you'll oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, logistics, fleet management, health & safety, and inventory control.

You'll manage a team of around 15 colleagues, including warehouse operatives, drivers, team leaders, and assistant managers, creating a positive, productive working environment and developing your team's skills to achieve consistent, high performance.

Key responsibilities



Manage daily warehouse operations, including goods in/out, order picking, and dispatch Supervise and lead the warehouse team, setting clear expectations and ensuring high standards of performance and productivity Maintain accurate inventory control using ERP systems Oversee fleet management, including vehicle scheduling, maintenance, and driver compliance Champion a strong health & safety culture, ensuring compliance, promoting safe working practices, and delivering regular training (including forklift operation) Identify and implement process improvements to boost operational efficiency and reduce costs Utilise warehouse and transport management systems to optimise workflows and logistics processes Collaborate with branch managers, sales, procurement, and third-party logistics partners to ensure seamless supply chain operations Monitor warehouse performance and accuracy through key performance indicators (KPIs) Lead by example, taking a hands-on approach when needed to support your team and the operation

You'll bring



Proven experience managing warehouse or distribution operations in a fast-paced environment Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams Excellent understanding of health & safety legislation and best practice, with a genuine commitment to maintaining a safe, well-run workplace Solid understanding of logistics principles, including shipping, receiving, and delivery planning In-depth knowledge of process improvement and continuous improvement methodologies Experience using ERP and warehouse management systems for stock control and reporting Familiarity with transport management systems and how they support logistics operations Hands-on experience operating forklifts safely and efficiently Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset Confident communicator with a collaborative, people-focused approach
