The Warehouse Operative will play a key role in the efficient running of the warehouse and logistics function at Strickland MFG Ltd. This role ensures that all products are picked, packed, assembled, and dispatched accurately and on time, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping. The postholder will also support wider warehouse and production activities, contributing to continuous improvement and safe working practices.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities



Assembly and Order Processing



Accurately interpret written and verbal instructions for assembling and preparing company products. Pick, band, pack, and label products in line with company standards and customer requirements. Assist in scheduling and moving goods through the warehouse to meet production and dispatch deadlines. Ensure orders are prepared on time and in full, liaising with colleagues in logistics and transport as required.

Health, Safety and Equipment



Conduct daily equipment checks (e.g., forklifts, pallet trucks) in line with company procedures. Work in accordance with relevant risk assessments and safe systems of work. Observe all site safety rules and report hazards, near misses, or unsafe practices to the Supervisor / Team Leader. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse and workshop area.

Teamwork and Continuous Improvement



Support colleagues across warehouse and production areas where required. Contribute ideas for improving safety, efficiency, and workflow. Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role and business needs.

Knowledge & Experience



Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or production environment (essential - application) Experience of picking and packing using system-generated orders (essential - application) Forklift experience (counterbalance/reach) (desirable - application) Experience in a manufacturing or construction-related industry (desirable - application) Understanding of safe manual handling practices (essential - interview)

Education



Good general education (minimum GCSE or equivalent in English & Maths) (essential - application) Full UK Driving Licence (essential - application) Forklift Truck Counterbalance Certification (essential - application) Forklift Truck Reach Certification (desirable - application)

Other Requirements



Willingness to work flexibly in line with the demands and needs of the business (essential - interview)
