Studio Pens is a small business based just outside Harrogate. We are the sole UK distributor of 3 quality European brands, Kaweco, Marius Fabre, and Schmidt Technology, supplying UK retailers and corporates.
We are seeking a full-time Warehouse Operative to join our small team of 4. You will be responsible for ensuring that the warehouse runs efficiently and that orders are shipped to customers in a timely manner. The role involves stock management, order picking, packing and shipping, goods-in and warehouse supplies management.
Our working hours are 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday, with a paid 30 minute lunch break. Previous warehouse / stock management experience is preferable. On-the-job training on our systems will be provided.
Main Duties
Despatching Orders
Pick orders using a hand-held scanner
Print despatch notes & prepare parcels for despatch
Work out the appropriate shipping method and action it
Handle couriers (organise / cancel collectons, order labels, etc)
Print shipping labels and log the tracking information on our ERP system.
Email delivery notes & invoices to customers
Make any stock adjustments that come to light during order picking
Goods-In
Receive deliveries of new stock
Check for external damage while the driver is still there, and make sure any damage is documented
Unpack the goods & check them against the despatch note, note & action any discrepancies
Book the goods in to our ERP system
Put away pre-labelled stock in the correct stock location
Make-Up - put Kaweco pens & pencils in their tins / boxes and apply barcode labels before putting way, or putting them in to bulk stock. Move the stock on the ERP system.
Stock Management
Run the "Stock Replenishment" report each week, and move stock from "bulk stock" into main stock as needed. Make up bulk stock so that it's ready to ship.
Spot check stock levels as necessary
Move stock within the warehouse as necessary
Correct any stock errors / discrepancies on the ERP system
Run the "Stock Requiring Transforming" report and break down larger boxes of Schmidt refills & components into smaller units as per the report
Carry out the annual stock take (you will have help!)
General
Manage general warehouse supplies, such as boxes, tape, printer labels etc.
Answer the phone if no-one else is available
Potential to attend trade shows if desired
Skills Required
Friendliness!! We are a very small team working in a small warehouse. We want you to enjoy coming to work and to enjoy working with you!
Experience - You will be in sole charge of the warehouse, so you'll need to have some previous experience of working in a warehouse / stock management role so that you can hit the ground running.
. At least a 5 in GCSE English and Maths
IT literacy - full training on our ERP software will be provided, but it's essential that you're not scared of learning how to use it!
Excellent attention to detail:
o It's crucial that our stock records are accurate, so that stock can be found in the location that our ERP system believes it to be in.
o Stock must be prepared for sale to a high standard - labels need to be applied neatly and care taken to ensure products are correctly labelled
Ability to work alone and to use your own initiative. You will sometimes be in the warehouse by yourself.
Physical strength & fitness - Some of your role will be quite physical, and will involve moving boxes that can weight up to 20kg, and moving heavy pallets using a (manual) pallet truck.
Flexibility - you will need to be able to switch from shipping orders to unpacking a delivery or making up bulk stock if that's what's required, and to be able to prioritise.
Pay & Benefits
The rate of pay is 23,000 per annum.
Holiday entitlement is 28 days per annum, including Christmas mandatory leave between Christmas and New Year, plus Bank Holidays.
3 month probationary period.
Notice period - 1 week during probation, 4 weeks thereafter.
