The role of Warehouse Operative/Driver:
Daily driving between company sites in Braintree and Epping to transport samples and internal post, etc.
Weekly driving to transport samples to external laboratory.
Locating in-house samples for the laboratory.
Other general driving duties as required, observing current legal and best practice at all times.
Assisting with all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring efficient processes, and maintaining a high standard of productivity.
Receiving and Processing - Unloading deliveries, checking for damaged or missing items, and sorting stock for storage.
Storage and Organization - Placing items on shelves, racks, or in designated storage areas, maintaining a tidy and organized warehouse environment.
Order Picking and Packing - Collecting items from the warehouse based on orders, preparing them for shipment, and ensuring accurate packaging.
Inventory Management - Keeping track of stock levels, conducting regular stock checks, and updating inventory records using warehouse management systems.
Equipment Operation - Using equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand carts to move stock safely and efficiently.
Dispatching - Preparing orders for delivery, loading items onto vehicles, and ensuring proper documentation.
Maintaining Safety and Cleanliness - Adhering to health and safety regulations, keeping the warehouse clean and organized, and ensuring the safe handling of goods.
Operating in the warehouse and other areas of the business in compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines.
This role involves physical exertion, including lifting 25kg boxes.
Any other ad-hoc duties as directed.
Flexible in relieving other departments as required (eg for absence cover/fluctuations in business demand).
Any other duties that may aid the company's responsibility to ensure Food Safety, Quality, Authenticity and legality of the products and processes performed following our FSSC 22000 and BRCGS procedures and those governing any other 3rd party accreditations.
Warehouse Operative Requirements and Skills:
Counterbalance forklift licence (Essential)
Flexi/Bendi forklift licence
Narrow Aisle/VNA forklift licence
Full, valid and clean UK Driving licence (Essential)
Previous work experience as a Warehouse Operative (in a similar industry is preferred)
Flexibility to move between driving and warehouse tasks to meet business needs
Knowledge of warehouse procedures and best practices
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform well under pressure
Excellent communication skills
Professional, positive and enthusiastic
Work with integrity, initiative and focus
Able to self-manage and work independently when necessary
Additional information:
Location - Braintree, CM7 2YN
Salary - The first 39 hours per week are paid at 14 per hour and the remaining 4 hours per week are paid at 21 per hour
25 days holiday (plus bank hols), increasing by 1 day each January, up to max of 28 days
Working hours - 43 per week (7:15am-5:15pm Mon-Thurs, 7:15am-3:15pm Fri)
