Warehouse Person

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities \xe2\x80\xa2 To unload and check accuracy of all incoming stock deliveries in line with the Health & Safety offloading procedures and company policy \xe2\x80\xa2 To carry out daily checks on the forklift truck and other mechanical equipment in accordance reporting all defects to the Depot Manager \xe2\x80\xa2 To maintain a high level of stock security and carry out the required security checks on all outgoing orders and deliveries \xe2\x80\xa2 To deal with returns from customers in a courteous, professional and knowledgeable way \xe2\x80\xa2 To carry out daily/weekly stock checks according to procedure, ensuring an accurate computer stock file \xe2\x80\xa2 To understand and comply with company policy regarding damage controls and replacement part ordering \xe2\x80\xa2 To maintain general housekeeping duties within the warehouse, stock rotation and product group, cleanliness and tidiness. \xe2\x80\xa2 To participate as an effective and willing team member to achieve individual and team goals \xe2\x80\xa2 To ensure a safe and comfortable environment is maintained for customers and employees within the depot \xe2\x80\xa2 Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Regulations whilst in the depot This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities, but outlines the salient points of the role. Key Performance Indicators \xe2\x80\xa2 Good time management, ensuring that stock orders are ready to allow deliveries and collections to be made in a timely manner \xe2\x80\xa2 Professional conduct in the warehouse, ensuring that Health & Safety Regulations are complied with at all times \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to work on own initiative as well as working alongside team members to achieve depot goals \xe2\x80\xa2 Clear communication skills when interacting with customers, ensuring that they receive a professional and courteous service at all times Key Challenges \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintaining accuracy of inventory through line checks, in order to fulfil customer orders \xe2\x80\xa2 Optimising space in the warehouse ensuring this remains neat and tidy at all times and stock is always easily accessible \xe2\x80\xa2 Attention to detail to ensure that stock checks are carried out accurately About You \xe2\x80\xa2 Basic Literacy and numeracy skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Forklift licence (desirable) \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience working within a large organisation \xe2\x80\xa2 Knowledge of stock management and health and safety at work \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to work on own initiative and meet tight deadlines \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to pay attention to detail, while being organised and committed Data Protection All employees must not, without permission, disclose any information regarding staff. In instances where it is known that a member of staff has communicated information to unauthorised persons, those staff may be liable to disciplinary action up to and including summary dismissal

Summary of the Role

At Howdens we operate an \xe2\x80\x98in stock\xe2\x80\x99 business through all of our depots. Our Warehouse Person is responsible for effective stock maintenance, compliance with strict health and safety regulations and high standards of customer services.

The Role

  • Deal with customers in a courteous, professional and knowledgeable way.
  • Maintain general housekeeping duties within the warehouse including; stock rotation, cleanliness, tidiness and compliance with Health & Safety guidelines.
  • Carry out security and compliance checks on all incoming stock and outgoing orders while adhering to stock management guidelines to ensure accuracy.
  • Carry out daily checks on the forklift truck and other mechanical equipment and report all defects to the Depot Manager.
