Job Title: Warehouse Supervisor

Department - Operations

Reports to: Operations Manager

Hours: 37.5 working Monday to Friday 9-5

Job Purpose



To manage and oversee both the Goods In department and Warehouse Organisation, ensuring that all inbound stock is received, stored, and processed accurately and efficiently in accordance with company procedures and is then put away accurately, with organisation maintained. The Warehouse Supervisor will lead a small team, take ownership of stock integrity, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and maintain a safe and organised working environment. This role includes daily use of FLT equipment and requires a hands-on leader capable of balancing physical operational duties with high-level coordination and planning.

Key Responsibilities



Operational Duties



Lead and oversee the daily receipt, handling, storage, and despatch of goods for internal and external customers, maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and quality Ensure all goods are received, checked, and booked into the Warehouse Management System (OMS) in a timely and accurate manner Manage and carry out the safe operation of a Counterbalance Forklift Truck for unloading, put away, and loading tasks Plan and manage the efficient use of warehouse space, including preparation of storage locations prior to delivery Coordinate the picking and despatch of customer orders, ensuring correct products and quantities are delivered on time Ensure delivery and despatch documentation is prepared correctly and filed appropriately Maintain high stock accuracy through routine checks, cycle counts, and supporting formal stocktakes Oversee and manage the physical organisation, cleanliness, and safety of the Goods In and wider warehouse area

Team Leadership & Management



Supervise, coach, and develop Warehouse Operatives and Goods In Operatives to ensure they meet daily operational requirements and expected standards Take ownership of team performance, including planning workloads, providing feedback, and conducting informal HR activities such as return-to-works and performance support Deliver or arrange on-the-job training to ensure team members follow all procedures and remain competent in their roles Communicate daily expectations and priorities clearly to the team and ensure accountability Foster a positive team environment and ensure professional communication with other departments Embody our values in all aspects of the role and lead by example in behaviour, communication, and work ethic

Health & Safety and Compliance



Take the lead on Health and Safety within the department, ensuring all procedures, risk assessments, and best practices are followed Oversee and complete daily FLT safety checks and ensure prompt resolution of any mechanical or safety issues Maintain a safe working environment by proactively identifying hazards and reporting or rectifying them as required Ensure compliance with internal procedures, including SOPs and Good Distribution Practice (GDP)

Planning and Process Improvement



Take a lead role in reviewing, planning, and processing Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs), ensuring stock is received in line with agreed expectations Work collaboratively with procurement, client services, and operations to align delivery and stock handling with broader business needs Monitor and manage stock location accuracy, proposing improvements to layout and flow as required Identify, plan, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimise goods-in processes and warehouse efficiency Provide input into systems development or updates, particularly where they impact stock handling or inventory accuracy

Key Skills and Experience Required - (Essential)



Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence (We can arrange a refresher course, should you licence be in house only or expired recently). Extensive experience in warehouse operations, including inventory management and Goods In/Goods Out processes Proven experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within a warehouse environment managing a small team effectively Strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations and warehouse compliance standards Confident using warehouse systems and standard Microsoft Office applications Excellent attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach to work Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond to changing priorities quickly A proactive and positive approach, with a commitment to supporting team development in alignment with the company's values and growth objectives.
