We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Materials Handlers at the 48 Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Feltwell , United Kingdom.

What will be your primary role?



The primary purpose of this position is to perform the full range of warehousing duties with responsibility of handling or overseeing one or more product lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or serve as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse. You will be responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective receiving operation as well as responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective storage operation. You will perform tasks involved in issuing and shipping items and assist in accomplishing inventories by counting items and properly completing tally listings and other inventory documents. You will be operating automated material handling and identification equipment to include mobile stock selectors and electromechanical automated equipment such as high rise automated storage and retrieval vehicles to move, stack and unstack, bin, and position material. You will perform material handling duties, including the use of tools and other equipment, in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulations as well as maintains records and documents actions.

Requirement:



A valid Category B driver's license is required for the position. You will be required to undertake training/examination to obtain a category C1 driving license if you do not already possess this license category. Category C1 training/examination will be funded by the unit. You will be required to drive various types of motor vehicle on a daily basis, including 7.5 tonne vehicles (Cat C1). Failure to successfully complete the training/examination within 12 months due to your own negligence will result in separation from the position. If failure to complete the training/examination is due to circumstances outside of your control, management will establish a reasonable time frame for completion.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?



1. Knowledge of accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques; and of warehousing functions such as material receiving, storage, issuing, and preservation.

2. Knowledge of warehouse configurations, storage requirements for particular commodities, and storage documentation requirements; and of inventory procedures.

3. Knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation; and of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.

4. Skill in the use of automated material processing equipment and systems.

5. Ability to prepare inventory and production reports; and to screen shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies.

6. Ability to interpret and apply instructions pertaining to material handling; and to maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.

What are the conditions of employment for this role?



1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.

2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.

3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.

4. Overtime may be required.

5. You may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.

6. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

7. Your work hours will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 800-1630 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.

8. The work requires you to drive various types of motor vehicle.

9. You must be physically capable to operate a wide range of vehicles and material handling equipment including, but not limited to; car, panel van, 7.5 tonne vehicle, high lift picking equipment, forklifts, electric pallet stackers etc.

10. You will be required to undertake training of various types; to include but not limited to, the ability to drive a 7.5 tonne vehicle.

11. As required, you may train and/or guide other personnel in performance of material handling duties.

12. The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. You may lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds and may handle heavier items with weightlifting equipment or with assistance from other workers.

13. You must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance required for this position.

14. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing; however, positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
