Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Waste Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of waste materials. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, environmental regulations, and effective communication skills. The Waste Operative will be responsible for ensuring that waste is handled properly and that all operations comply with relevant legislation.

Our 3.5t Here to Clear Collection Operative is an integral part of the HIPPO team in how we service and support our customers. This key role helps ensure that our collection service runs smoothly and adheres to our service level agreements. As the face-to-face contact for the company, you will be proud of the care and professionalism that you can provide.

Responsibilities

Collect waste from residential and business addresses as directed by the Transport Team ensuring that the best service is provided at all times Deliver the waste which has been collected to designated waste transfer stations Ensure the collection vehicle is roadworthy by conducting pre-trip vehicle checks to identify and report any defects or maintenance needs Completing multiple collections within a single shift, requiring efficient time management Ensure the correct material is collected at all times (and that it complies with the description on the waste transfer note). Contact the Transport Team where there are discrepancies or where additional waste is required to be collected Ensure that after the waste clearance is completed, the site is left in a clean and tidy state Ensure the vehicle and equipment are kept clean and tidy (inside and out) and remain well presented by caring for and maintaining your vehicle and equipment Ensure all required administration is completed at point of collection Provide excellent customer service, handling any issues that may arise and liaising with Contact Centre regarding any payments Operate in accordance with training and HIPPO policies and procedures Comply with Health and Safety legislation, Company Health and Safety policies and procedures (including the wearing of PPE) Maintain clear communication with Transport Manager and Transport Team regarding potential delays and any issues encountered with collections. Immediately advise the Transport Team of failed collections before leaving the site Adhere to all site rules, notices and regulations whilst attending any sites and waste transfer stations Ensure the security of the vehicle Operate the company vehicle to a high and safe standard, driving in an effective and courteous manner at all times to other road users and members of the public Call the Transport Team following completion of the daily route to debrief and accept additional collections where required
