We're hiring

4 Waste Drivers

to join the

Waste Services team

with the council.
If you're an experienced HGV driver who takes pride in keeping communities clean and safe - this role is for you.

Location:

Swindon, SN2

Duration:

12 Weeks (Temporary contract)

Hours:

Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM (37 hours per week)

Pay Rate:

PAYE: 15.50 per hour

Reason for Hire:

While recruiting new permanent staff

About the Role

As a

Waste Driver

, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a high standard in the collection of waste and recycling.
You'll be responsible for driving and operating waste collection vehicles, leading a small team, and ensuring all waste is collected safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive and maintain allocated vehicles, completing safety and maintenance checks Supervise crew and assist with loading/unloading where needed Report non-collections, accidents, or hazards promptly Maintain excellent customer service and clear communication with the public Follow all health and safety and PPE standards

What You'll Need:

Full and valid

HGV licence

Experience driving refuse/recycling vehicles
Knowledge of vehicle checks and tachograph procedures
Ability to use electronic ICT/in-cab systems
A positive, safety-first attitude

Desirable:

NVQ Level 2 in Waste Management or equivalent
