Working as part of the Waste Collection Team based at Hellaby Depot, you will safely carry out waste collections across the Borough, this will include the collection of all waste and recyclables from household and commercial properties.
You will be responsible for the waste collection vehicle and supervise the work of the waste management operatives on the vehicle and will be a key member of the waste management team.
You must be flexible in your approach to achieving targets, have experience of working within a waste collection environment, preferably kerbside waste/recycling collections and be able to operate as part of a team.
You must be able to walk distances at a minimum of 8 to 10 miles per day as this is a physically demanding role, must be able to push and pull bins of various sizes over various distances and gradients in all weather conditions.
It is essential you have a good understanding of health and safety requirements in the workplace and possess the necessary skills in terms of excellent customer care to represent the Council in the delivery of front-line services.
You will be required to input daily updates on the Bartec 'in cab' system and report contamination, participation of collections and ensure that customers receive the appropriate information, bin tag, leaflet etc.
You must hold a category C2 driving licence and CPC driver card and be able to lift/pull loaded receptacles outdoors in all weather conditions.
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate good customer services skills and an ability to work within a team.
