Parc Myrddin Offices, Carmarthen SA31 1HQ
, with hybrid working available for part of the week.
You will support the development and delivery of recycling initiatives across Carmarthenshire, helping to improve community participation and overall recycling performance. This role is ideal for someone who is environmentally motivated, customer-focused, and confident communicating with a wide range of individuals.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of the Waste Strategy and promotional campaigns to increase recycling participation.
Update and maintain digital content on the waste and recycling website pages.
Respond to public enquiries through social media, email, phone and face-to-face communication.
Assist in the scheduling of field staff work, liaising with them, tracking outcomes, and maintaining accurate records.
Collate data, set up Excel spreadsheets, and monitor recycling performance information.
Help identify areas, locations or households with low recycling participation and support targeted education and awareness initiatives.
Handle customer complaints and service requests, ensuring issues are resolved professionally in line with customer care principles.
Support community engagement activities and occasional weekend events.
Contribute to improving public awareness of recycling, waste minimisation, and reuse services across the county.
Edit website content as required (full training provided).
Work collaboratively within a team environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to continuous service improvement.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use and set up
Excel spreadsheets
for basic data capture and monitoring.
Confident dealing with residents both face-to-face and via telephone.
Customer-focused with the ability to resolve queries professionally.
Team player with the ability to work effectively with others.
An understanding of Carmarthenshire recycling schemes (can be learned).
Interest in recycling, environmental issues, and waste minimisation.
Ability to accommodate flexible working patterns, including occasional weekends.
Desirable
Driving licence (travel between work locations may be required).
Awareness of Welsh Government Waste Strategy and current waste management issues.
Experience updating websites or digital content (training will be provided).

Working Conditions
