Job Description

Smart Storm Ltd designs, develops and manufacture wastewater measurement systems that are used in the Process and Water industries. We supply and maintain equipment to industry throughout the UK and have established an excellent reputation for quality and service. Due to continued growth plans we are delighted to offer the opportunity for an experienced Service Engineer to join our team; alternatively, we will consider applications from recent graduates / HND qualified individuals with a background in electronic or electrical engineering or Mechanical Engineers who can demonstrate an aptitude for learning electrical and electronic techniques.

THE ROLE

Installing, servicing, and maintaining trade effluent monitoring equipment in factories throughout the U.K, you must be competent:

with electrical installations and wiring, control panel instrumentation or alternatively mechanical skills including welding, assembly, workshop skills etc.

the use of hand and power tools.

Instrumentation fault finding.

Routine maintenance procedures.

You must be prepared to work in various manufacturing sites from food and drink to chemical industries to waste water treatment plants. You must be capable of working in confined spaces and at height and a certain level of fitness is required. A clean or low point driving license is essential.

On a day-to-day basis you will be servicing pre-installed Smart Storm wastewater instrumentation and periodically throughout the year you will be involved in complete system installations, involving instrumentation, wiring, pumping systems, control panels etc. The majority of work is carried out on a daily drive from Halifax but occasionally you will be required to work away involving overnight stays.

THE PERSON

You will be educated to HNC/HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline, be a time served qualified electrician or be an adaptable mechanical engineer; recent graduates are welcome to apply. The role has genuine promotional and long-term career development opportunities. Ideally you will have gained some practical experience of electro-mechanical / electronic equipment or similar and have completed an apprenticeship in an engineering discipline or have some post apprenticeship experience, but this is not essential. You will also ideally hold an 18th Edition electrical wiring certificate or equivalent. However, applicants who do not have qualifications but can demonstrate skills and experience will not be excluded.

You will be self-motivated, professional, and confident. You will be able to communicate at all levels, have excellent customer-faced skills including quick, concise, and accurate report writing and have good IT and data analysis skills.
