Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Water Operative to support the maintenance, repair, and installation of water supply infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of hands-on experience working within the water industry, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, pipes, valves, and associated infrastructure

Conduct leakage detection and repairs on the water network

Operate and maintain water distribution systems according to health and safety regulations

Perform site excavations using appropriate tools and machinery (if trained)

Complete all relevant documentation, including job sheets, reports, and compliance forms

Carry out flushing and chlorination of water mains where required

Respond to emergency callouts and participate in a standby rota if necessary

Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE

Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and members of the public

Support the delivery of continuous supply and minimum disruption to customers

Essential Requirements

5 years of experience in utilities, construction, or a related field (water industry experience desirable)

Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks and outdoor work in all weather conditions

Full UK driving licence (preferred or required depending on location)

Strong understanding of health and safety practices

Willingness to undertake training and gain relevant qualifications (e.g., Streetworks, Water Hygiene, Manual Handling)

Desirable Qualifications (if not essential)

EUSR Water Hygiene Card

Streetworks (NRSWA) certification

First Aid certification

CSCS card

Confined Space training
