Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Partnerships & Development team who help manage the Environment Agency\'s boating navigations across the Anglian Waterways.

Our Partnerships & Development team work closely with internal colleagues and external partners and stakeholder to provide the best possible service and navigations for our boating customers to enjoy, as well as improving the local environment for both people and wildlife.

The income we receive from our estates and assets, such as our river moorings and our state-of-the-art marina in Northampton, are vital to help us maintain our navigations.

By working closely with colleagues and partners, you can expect to be involved in any of the following:

  • Liaising directly with existing and potential partners on a regular basis to deliver efficiencies and attract vital income to enable our operational colleagues to maintain our waterways.
  • Helping and overseeing the \'day to day\' management of our mooring sites and assist the team who run Northampton Marina.
  • Looking for opportunities to expand the Agency\'s commercial income by having an initiative outlook and a strong focus on customer needs.
  • Supporting externally funded projects to develop and improve our navigations for the benefits of the local communities as well as attracting new boating customers and visitors from across the country to our unique waterways.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team

We are the navigation authority for 568km of navigable waterways across Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Norfolk, Essex and Suffolk known as the Anglian Waterways.

You\'ll join our dedicated Waterways Partnerships & Development team who assist the Anglian Waterways team manage safe boating navigations for our user to enjoy, delivering efficiencies and improvements to our waterways by working in partnership with others.

We are working towards a vision of becoming a sustainable navigation business.

Experience/skills required

Degree in appropriate discipline/experience in funding, marketing, tourism, estate management or similar.
Knowledge & experience of income generation.
IT literacy, knowledge of appropriate business software and systems.
Demonstrate strong health, safety and wellbeing principles for yourself and others.
Managing budgets to deliver value for money and achieve efficiencies.
Track record in project management/delivery including experience of letting and managing contracts and good understanding of health & safety plus environmental, heritage, social/Political issues.
Commercial/Financial awareness and budgetary control experience.
Can work under pressure to financial targets and deadlines.
Can deliver/manage coordinated customer contact programme with high level negotiation/presentation skills.
Undertaking post project evaluation/ submission of monitoring reports & funding claims where appropriate
Monitoring projects and programmes to ensure compliance with Environment Agency/Partners policies & procedures, legislation & audit requirements, with reference to health & safety and environment & heritage issues.
Awareness of water-based activities would be an advantage but not essential.

Role specific license requirements

The successful candidate will be expected to travel as part of the role, so a full driving licence is essential.
