About Heneb - The Trust for Welsh Archaeology
Heneb is a charitable organisation committed to preserving and promoting Wales' rich archaeological heritage. As part of our ongoing commitment to volunteering through co-operative working and sector collaboration, we have been awarded a grant by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) to develop a heritage and volunteering network for Wales.
We seek a professional, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with experience in project management, stakeholder engagement and outreach in Wales to support delivery of this 18-month project.
Job Purpose
The WCVA Project Officer will be responsible for identifying Heneb's key stakeholders from within history societies, heritage organisations and community archaeology groups; undertaking targeted engagement and developing lasting relationships between Heneb and the wider sector. This work will feed into development of a national volunteering network for heritage and archaeology. This role involves identifying new opportunities, developing partnerships, and increasing overall engagement with Heneb. The successful candidate will work closely with Heneb's National Lead for Outreach and the senior management team to create and implement strategies that align with Heneb's WCVA grant outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including history societies, heritage organisations and community archaeology groups.
Represent Heneb at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote the WCVA project.
Generate engaging media content to promote the work of Heneb and the WCVA project.
Strategy, Planning and Delivery
Work with senior management to develop an agreed methodology.
Implement a robust project management framework and establish key milestones in agreement with senior management.
Identify challenges and opportunities at an early stage and develop mitigation strategies.
Deliver the project on-time, to a high standard, meeting the project aims as agreed with the WCVA and senior management.
Reporting and Administration
Maintain accurate records of WCVA project activities.
Provide regular informal updates and formal reports on progress, challenges, and results to the National Lead for Outreach, Chief Executive and to the WCVA.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and legislation in all project activities including compliance with GDPR, the Chartered Institute of Archaeologists Code of Best Practice and WCVA guidance.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience
:
Proven experience in project delivery, preferably within the heritage, archaeology, or charity sector.
Demonstrable track record of successful stakeholder engagement.
Strong understanding of the archaeology sector and its role in fostering health and wellbeing.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders both online and in-person.
Impeccable time management, with the ability to manage complex project interdependencies.
Desirable Qualifications
:
Experience working within a heritage or archaeological organisation.
Experience managing volunteers.
Relevant degree in heritage, archaeology, or a related field.
Prince2 Project Management.
Ability to speak Welsh.

Location
: The post-holder will be able to work hybrid with a mix of home working and office-based working from any of our offices (Welshpool, Bangor, Llandeilo, or Baglan) to be agreed with line manager. Frequent travel across Wales will be required.
