Job Description


My client, a world leader in the defence sector, requires an Algorithm Engineer, an adaptable technologist with an aptitude for mathematics to join their team of technical professionals working on the development of algorithms for future weapon systems.

Algorithm Engineer

The Weapon Systems Algorithm Engineer will be working on algorithm development and test using MATLAB/SIMULINK, collaborating with the systems team to understand how the algorithms will be used, as well as with the software team to appreciate how they will be implemented.

This role offers the chance to influence how algorithms are developed and how the team can grow and adapt to meet evolving technological needs.

You will undertake training on their defence products and on the analysis used by the algorithms they develop, enabling you to take responsibility through task ownership. You will also have access to opportunities for progression in technical and managerial directions.

You will be joining a specialist and forward-thinking team using product knowledge and mathematical analysis to develop the algorithms that underpin the advanced capabilities of weapon systems. To keep ahead of their rivals, they are always looking to the state-of-the-art in algorithm technology, including an increasing adoption of methods that employ machine-learning and artificial intelligence.

To be considered for this role, you will need to be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or mathematically focused subject, with experience in the development of algorithms for real life engineering solutions or situations.

In addition, you will have an aptitude and willingness to work with mathematics and experience in at least one of the following:

  • Mathematical analysis
  • Numerical simulation
  • Machine learning
  • Software development

Hybrid working (Where possible, they will offer a blended approach to on-site and remote working, but this role is predominantly site based.
