Job Description


Our client, a major importer and exporter of industrial UK castors and wheels based in Redditch, are seeking a web developer responsible for both back-end and front-end development, primarily using WordPress themes and plugins.

This position requires a combination of programming and markup skills (namely PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript). The candidate will be expected to build and maintain multiple websites with potential growth into e-commerce (Shopify, WooCommerce) in the future. Understanding aesthetics, the arrangements of elements on screen, colour and font choice will be a necessary part of the role.

The candidate should also have a strong understanding and interest to follow industry trends, with a grasp of the current market\xe2\x80\x99s development process, including: design, development and deployment.

Working hours:

  • 08:00 - 16:30 Monday - Friday
Pay rate:
  • \xc2\xa321,132 - \xc2\xa325,000 per year depending on experience
Responsibilities:
  • Help formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme (WordPress)
  • Ensure high-performance and availability by managing the technical aspects of the CMS.
  • Establish and guide the website\xe2\x80\x99s architecture.
  • Work together with marketing and management to build e-commerce platforms.
Skills & qualifications:
  • Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JQuery.
  • Experience building user interfaces for websites, including e-commerce.
  • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites.
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools.
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browser
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages.
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML).
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as GIT.
  • Strong understanding of PHP back-end development.
  • Knowledge (experience advantageous) of SEO and keyword research.
  • Experience of graphical design is advantageous.
Required experience:
  • 1 year (at least) experience working with WordPress development and administration \xe2\x80\x93 graduate experience considered.
  • Experience developing websites in other CMS tools.
  • Ability to multitask and plan proactively, as well as accomplish goals within a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, with minimal direction yet able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate close attention to detail and accuracy.
