To prepare and deliver high-quality, nutritious meals; oversee kitchen operations; uphold exceptional hygiene, safety, and food standards; and work collaboratively with kitchen, head chef, staff members and management teams to provide an outstanding dining experience for all service users.
Responsibilities
Prepare and present high-quality, nutritious, and visually appealing meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of all service users.
Assist in planning and developing nutritious menus in collaboration with the management team, ensuring they meet service users' interests and dietary requirements.
Support and guide kitchen staff, promoting teamwork, efficiency, and high standards in food preparation, hygiene, and service.
Ensure smooth kitchen operations, maintaining organisation, cleanliness, and adherence to food safety and health and safety regulations.
Monitor and manage stock levels, checking deliveries for quality and freshness, and helping minimise waste through proper storage and portion control.
Support compliance efforts with all legislation, regulatory requirements and internal standards related to the operation and registration of Orton House and Winston's Place.
Maintain accurate records for food safety, including temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and hygiene audits.
Uphold kitchen hygiene standards, ensuring all food storage, preparation, and service areas meet company and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications / Values
Proven experience within a professional kitchen environment
Culinary experience with a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety standards
Knowledge of person-centred care
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Experience in team management abilities with a focus on motivating staff and maintaining high morale
Formal culinary qualifications or certifications are necessary
