We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and a strong commitment to providing exceptional care. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of the animals in our care while maintaining a clean and safe environment. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Duties
Provide daily care for animals, including feeding and exercising dogs and cats.
Maintain cleanliness in kennels, play areas, and surrounding facilities by performing regular cleaning tasks.
Monitor animal behaviour and health, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or management.
Assist with customer service duties, including greeting pet owners and providing updates on their pets' well-being.
Laundry and cleaning of communal areas.
Bathing and drying dogs and brushing cats.
Country walks off site around a set route.
Ensure that all safety protocols are followed to protect both animals and staff members.
Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to animal care and customer service.
Reception Duties if required
Skills
Strong knowledge of animal care practices is essential; experience in a kennel, zoo or veterinary setting is preferred.
A compassionate attitude towards animals combined with a proactive approach to their care and welfare.
Team work and excellent communication at all times.
Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and manage large breeds of dogs when necessary.
Ability to perform a physcially demanding role for long hours in all weathers, including sunshine, rain, snow etc.
