Mechanical Engineer - Weekend Shift

Location: Pontrilas Sawmills, Herefordshire

Hours: Weekend Shift - Friday to Sunday, 05:45-18:15

Salary: 43,046 + Weekly Production Bonus + Overtime

Pontrilas Sawmills, a family-run and industry-leading timber production company, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support our operations during the weekend shift. Key Responsibilities:
Respond to mechanical breakdowns and perform reactive maintenance to minimize downtime.
Support the reliability of plant operations through timely repairs and mechanical support.
Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mechanical drive systems, and gearboxes.
Perform some fabrication and welding tasks (MIG, MAG, MMA) as required.
Collaborate with the maintenance team to uphold high operational standards.
Ensure all work is performed safely and documented accurately.

Requirements:
Strong background in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Experience working with:
Hydraulics and pneumatics
Welding (MIG, MAG, MMA)
Mechanical fault-finding and breakdown support
Completion of a recognized Mechanical Apprenticeship (or equivalent).
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently during weekend shifts.
Safety-focused with good communication and teamwork skills.
