Weekend Microbiological Food Analyst

Job Description
Microsearch Laboratories is a UKAS accredited Laboratory that has been providing analytical services to the food industry for over 30 years. We are a fast-growing company comprising of five separate laboratories based across two buildings.
We are looking for candidates to join our team as part time Microbiological Food Analysts, preparing samples, pipetting and pouring agar plates.
You will be working in a busy laboratory environment, working as part of a team testing food samples to check for any potentially harmful bacteria.
Key duties will include:
Preparing food samples & swabs for microbiological analysis by;
- Measuring, weighing and resuscitation of samples.
- Preparation of serial dilutions.
- Inoculation of petri dishes.
- Pouring molten agar.
- Incubation of prepared petri dishes.
Keeping a clean and sanitary working environment.
Strict adherence to laboratory methods.
We'd expect a high level of attention to detail and efficiency in your work at all times, good organisation skills and the aptitude and ability to learn and develop within the work environment.
We are looking for people who are energetic, organised and can work to deadlines.
Candidates ideally suited to someone keen to learn a new vocation with a strong academic background although specific Microbiological experience is not required as full training will be given.

Current shifts available are:
Saturday 12pm - 8pm
Sunday 12pm - 8pm
The starting rates of pay are: 8.58 - 12.66.
