About The Food Shed
The Food Shed is a growing street food business known for our gourmet burgers, house made sauces, and seasonal specials. We operate from Brixham Rugby Club and at events, with a focus on high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and a fun, friendly atmosphere.
Role Overview
We're looking for a talented and adaptable chef to join The Food Shed, learn our signature menu, and take on responsibility for weekend running of the takeaway kitchen with the support of our other team members. You'll be in charge of food preparation, cooking, service, and maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness. This is a hands on role that suits someone passionate about great food, fast paced service, and leading a small kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
Learn, master and contribute to The Food Shed's menu, including our gourmet burgers, sauces, and seasonal specials.
Take ownership of day-to-day kitchen operations during service.
Lead and work alongside the kitchen assistants to ensure smooth, efficient service.
Prepare ingredients, cook and serve food to a consistently high standard.
Maintain stock levels and assist with ordering supplies.
Ensure food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards are upheld at all times.
Work closely with the owner to suggest specials, menu improvements, and seasonal dishes.
Support with prep work outside of service when required.
Represent The Food Shed brand with a friendly, professional attitude.
Requirements
Previous chef or cook experience
Ability to lead a small kitchen team.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Knowledge of food safety standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification preferred).
Passion for high quality, flavour-packed food.
Flexibility to work weekends, and maybe during events.

Pay: 12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 6 - 24 per week
