We are part of the Express Engineering Group who employ more than 300 employees across the two companies, Express Engineering (Gateshead) and Express Engineering (Fabrications) (trading as QA Weld Tech).

The main duties of the Welding Inspector role will include:



Conducting visual and dimensional inspections of welds, ensuring compliance with drawings, standards, and specifications. Providing technical support and guidance to welding personnel, engineers and production teams. Auditing and monitoring welding activities and inspection processes to ensure adherence to customer, project and regulatory requirements. Identifying welding-related non-conformities, initiating corrective/preventive actions, and participation in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintaining detailed inspection records and preparing comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders and clients. Liaising with clients, third-party inspectors, and regulatory bodies to demonstrate compliance and resolve quality-related issues. Supporting welding qualification trials and assisting in the development and implementation of welding procedures for new materials or projects.
As with all positions, due to the nature and varying demands of our business, the responsibilities and tasks are not limited to this overview and may change to meet future demands. Occasional travel may be required.

To be successful in this Welding Inspector role at Express Engineering, you will:



CSWIP 3.1/3.2, preferred 3.2 Time served in relevant trade or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in welding Significant experience in a welding environment, with 3 or more years in an inspection/QC capacity Excellent understanding of welding techniques, equipment and standards Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Knowledge or experience of NDE methods relevant to welding quality control.
