We are recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 infrastructure contractor delivering a high-profile civil engineering project across the North West. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Welding Supervisor to play a pivotal role in one of the UK's most impactful pipeline programmes.
This is your chance to contribute to a nationally significant pipeline project that supports the UK's energy transition. You'll be working as part of a skilled, multidisciplinary team focused on innovation, safety and sustainable infrastructure.
You will oversee welding operations at the front end of the pipeline construction process, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and technical compliance across all pre-assembly and fit-up phases.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise all welding activities during the initial assembly of pipeline sections
Ensure compliance with all applicable welding procedures and specifications (WPS)
Oversee weld preparation, fit-up, root passes and ensure correct alignment and joint integrity
Conduct visual inspections and coordinate with NDT teams for radiography and ultrasonic testing
Maintain accurate weld logs, traceability records and progress reporting
Promote a culture of safety and ensure all activities meet HSE standards, including hot works and permit-to-work systems
Interface with engineering, QA/QC, site management and third-party inspectors
Lead and coordinate the activities of welding teams and subcontractors on site
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Extensive welding supervision experience on major infrastructure or pipeline projects
CSCS Gold Card or EUSR SHEA Gas/Fuel (preferred)
SSSTS or SMSTS certification
NVQ Level 3 in Welding and Fabrication or equivalent
Familiarity with BS EN ISO 9606, ASME IX, or API 1104
CSWIP 3.0 or 3.1 (advantageous)
Understanding of welding QA/QC requirements and safe working practices
Confined space, hot works and/or fire marshal qualifications (desirable)
