Laker Vent Ltd is a mechanical contractor operating within the engineering construction industry. We specialise in the installation of highly regulated process piping systems, serving blue chip clients across the Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, and Petrochemical industries.
The Role
You will oversee and coordinate the work of welders and fabricators, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in welding operations. You will be responsible for leading, instructing, and managing a team, implementing quality control procedures, and maintaining safety standards. Additionally, you will be involved in scheduling, resource allocation, and troubleshooting welding-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management
Lead, instruct, and motivate a team of welders and fabricators.
Coordinate and assign tasks, manage schedules, and oversee work progress.
Conduct regular team meetings to communicate objectives and address concerns.
Quality Control & Assurance
Ensure welding work meets quality standards and specifications.
Liaise with QA/QC on the Inspection of weld joints and Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures.
Safety Compliance
Ensure welders adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear.
Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation measures.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Technical Expertise
Possess a strong understanding of welding techniques, procedures, and codes
Interpret technical drawings.
Resource Management
Oversee the allocation and use of welding materials and equipment.
Maintain welding plant and calibration checks.
Problem Solving
Troubleshoot welding defects and resolve technical issues.
Identify and address any challenges or delays in the welding process.
Documentation
Maintain records of welds and materials used.
Assist in the preparation necessary documentation for quality control and project management.
Training & Development
Provide guidance and support to welders for continuous improvement.
Skills & Qualifications
SSSTS or IOSH
Extensive knowledge of welding processes, techniques, and codes.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Experience in quality control and safety management.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Organizational and time management skills.
PAYE (NAECI Categorised 2025) Grade 7
Basic rate - 24.66
Rate A - 34.52
Rate B - 44.38
IBA Payment - 2.37/hour
Travel & Accommodation - As per NAECI
