DESCRIPTION
As part of the Workplace Health & Safety Due Diligence and Remediation team, the role for WHS Field Scientist - Contaminated Land will be responsible for partnering with internal and external construction teams during site development and providing advice and support during construction of mitigation and remediation activities. In addition, you will be responsible for the ongoing operations, maintenance, and monitoring (OMM) of existing and future mitigation and remediation systems throughout Europe. You will be responsible for liaising with vendors and external consultants for OMM support, checking conformance with mitigation and/or remediation designs, and completion of self-performed OMM, where appropriate.
It is expected that the role will involve coordination between multiple Amazon teams, regulatory agencies and external stakeholders, and partners such as property owners, developers, and contractors.
The role will report directly to a Senior Engineer in the UK and will liaise with construction teams and other internal stakeholders in the field.
To be successful in this role, you will possess strong communication skills, have a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience, and be able to send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. Candidates should possess knowledge of and, preferably, experience in the environmental site assessment process, ground remediation, ground gas and vapour mitigation and site-based experience working with contractors in a site development or remediation context, as well as the ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
