We are seeking a highly responsible and motivated individual to join our expanding team as a Wood Pellet Mill and Biomass Plant Operator. This hybrid role involves the autonomous operation and maintenance of our wood pellet production line and onsite Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant and biomass boilers. The successful applicant will be dedicated to upholding the highest quality standards, with a specific focus on producing wood pellets that meet the stringent quality certification.
This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive and conscientious approach, with the ability to work unsupervised and take full ownership of the daily operation and maintenance of our energy systems.
Key Responsibilities
Wood Pellet Production (3 days/week):
Independently run and monitor the wood pellet production line to ensure consistent output and quality.
Conduct regular sampling and testing of wood pellets to verify they meet the ENplus A1 standard.
Accurately record production data, quality control results, and plant performance metrics.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor operational issues with the pellet mill machinery.
Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of the pellet production equipment.
CHP and Biomass Boiler Operations (2 days/week):
Operate and monitor the CHP plant and biomass boilers to ensure safe and efficient running.
Perform routine checks, inspections, and preventative maintenance tasks on CHP and boiler equipment.
Ensure the consistent and reliable supply of energy to our onsite woodchip processing facilities.
General Duties:
Ensure all equipment is operated at maximum efficiency and that production targets are met.
Maintain a safe and tidy working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Utilise Microsoft Office suite for data entry, record-keeping, and general administrative tasks.
Work as a collaborative member of the wider team, ensuring seamless communication and cooperation.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work effectively and responsibly without direct supervision.
A meticulous and detail-oriented approach to tasks, particularly with data recording and quality control.
Confidence in using Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
A strong sense of responsibility for the quality of the final product and the efficiency of equipment.
Hands on mechanical or maintenance experience working with heavy plant, production lines or similar equipment.
Desirable (full training will be provided):
Previous experience in biomass, CHP, or wood pellet production environments.
Knowledge and practical application of a quality certification process or quality standards.
An understanding of biomass boilers, control systems, and associated plant equipment.
Experience operating heavy plant such as telehandlers or similar.
