The Vacancy
This is a temporary / fixed term post for up to 9 months.
Woodland cover in North Lincolnshire extends to just 6.3%, significantly lower than average tree coverage compared to the rest of England. As part of its response to the climate and biodiversity emergencies, North Lincolnshire Council has committed to planting 250,000 trees increasing woodland cover in the area.
The Council is seeking a self-motivated, committed and organised person, who is keen to develop skills in woodland creation, to join its multi-disciplinary Natural and Historic Environment Team. In the role you will co-ordinate the delivery of woodland creation on land in and around the North Lincolnshire area, guiding the planting of the right tree in the right place.
To effectively carry this out, you will act as a strong advocate for woodland creation within the Council and adopt a positive approach when interacting with landowners, external partners and the public to build effective relationships and team working; whilst being able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Ideally, you should have a Higher National Diploma or other relevant qualification in a land management/countryside discipline or relevant subject and a full driving licence and/or the ability to travel around the North Lincolnshire area is essential. Whilst we welcome applicants with woodland creation experience, we will also consider recently qualified countryside professionals and candidates with a proven track record in successful project management in other fields.
Priority will be given to candidates with understanding of the forestry sector, and lowland England's key habitats and species.
Joining our progressive and welcoming team will bring a range of benefits, including:
