We are seeking a skilled WordPress Developer to join our development team. The role offers varied work, a wide technical scope, and the chance to help shape well crafted digital experiences. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in web development, experience with modern frameworks, and strong awareness of UX and design principles.

Responsibilities

Work with designers when required, or independently extend the existing design system to create new features that blend naturally into the product. Build responsive layouts using HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and PHP. Integrate and create secure REST API endpoints to support front end and back end communication. Work with third party services such as REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and AWS components. Use front end frameworks such as React, Angular, Bootstrap, or jQuery depending on project requirements. Manage version control workflows using Git, GitHub, or SVN, following clean branching and commit standards. Use deployment tools such as DeployHQ to support safe, predictable, repeatable releases. Use data visualisation tools such as D3.js or Chart.js when dashboards or reporting features are required. Maintain clear documentation across the SDLC using Jira or any similar project management tool. Participate in system architecture planning and wider application development. Use cross browser testing platforms such as BrowserStack. Use AI tools such as OpenAI or Claude to assist with refactoring, review, documentation, testing, and problem solving.

Delivery Discipline and Task Ownership

Scope tasks properly before writing code. Break work into manageable, sensible units. Provide realistic time estimates aligned to project timelines. Flag risks early and communicate blockers clearly. Update estimates responsibly when scope changes. Follow the full lifecycle of a change from requirement, scoping, build, QA, deployment, through to post release verification. Maintain a predictable development rhythm across multiple active projects.

Requirements

Proven experience in WordPress development, including custom theme and plugin creation. Strong proficiency in front end technologies: HTML5, CSS3 with SCSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, AJAX, Bootstrap. Solid experience with PHP and a clear understanding of clean, maintainable coding practices. Experience creating and consuming secure REST API endpoints. Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN. Familiarity with DeployHQ or similar deployment tooling. Strong understanding of RESTful architecture and API design. Able to operate in Agile environments with clear ticket updates in Jira or any similar project management tool. Good command of web security best practices and SEO optimisation methods. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is desirable. Comfortable using AI tools such as OpenAI and Claude to support development work.
