Job Description

The role involves scheduling, co-ordinating and supervising the work of all site operatives on construction/maintenance sites. This will include ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and timely manner. The working foreman must have a solid construction trade background and possess good building skills and knowledge. The role is a working position which will occasionally require the physical undertaking of site work so the possession of appropriate working tools is essential. A full driving licence will be required and preferably the ownership of a suitable vehicle for transporting tools and materials.

Most of the duties will be performed on outdoor construction sites which means facing all types of weather so the possession of good physical condition and stamina are essential. The role may involve working at heights or possibly in confined spaces.

The duties will include:-

Managing construction operatives and co-ordinating tasks to meet programme requirements.

Allocating general and daily responsibilities.

Ensuring manpower and materials resources are adequate.

Checking and recording attendance.

Assessing material requirements and ensuring that materials are ordered to meet the site schedules and dealing with deliveries.

Identifying potential hazards and managing them accordingly.

Performing regular inspections and audits.

Ensuring that all site personnel including visitors comply with health and safety practices such as wearing the appropriate protective clothing and equipment.

Organising work schedules.

Checking that work techniques are correct and safe and monitoring performance.

Completing site reports and other records.

Monitoring expenditure and reporting to the area supervisor.

The job will require the following skills:-

Proven experience as construction foreman.

Practical construction ability in a given trade.

An in-depth knowledge of construction procedures.

A good understanding of construction health and safety requirements.

Ability to make quick decisions.

Ability to work as part of a team.

Ability to communicate and report effectively.

Leadership.

Flexibility.

Basic business management - maintaining records etc.

Problem solving.

Ability to read drawings and plans.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 15.00-23.00 per hour
