Role Overview



The

Working Foreman

will combine hands-on trade work with day-to-day site leadership. Acting as the first point of contact on site, you will supervise operatives and subcontractors, ensure works are carried out safely and to specification, and lead by example with a proactive, solution-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities



Supervise, motivate, and coordinate site operatives and subcontractors. Lead by example, carrying out hands-on work in groundworks and general building. Ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, on time and within budget. Monitor site activities and enforce health & safety regulations, carrying out inductions and toolbox talks where required. Liaise with Project Manager / Site Manager on progress, risks, and programme updates. Manage site logistics: materials, plant, tools, and labour allocation. Maintain accurate daily records and reports. Uphold Ireson-Bailey's client-focused ethos by being professional, approachable, and solution-oriented. Act as a point of contact for clients, neighbours, and visitors when required.

Skills & Experience Required



Proven experience as a Foreman, Lead Operative, or Supervisor in construction. Solid background in groundworks and general building. Competent in reading drawings and specifications. Knowledge of building regulations and health & safety legislation. Ability to lead, motivate, and get the best out of site teams. Excellent organisational and communication skills. CSCS card (supervisory level desirable). Driving licence essential. SSSTS/SMSTS and First Aid desirable.
