Workshop Controller
to join our dynamic team and help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our busy workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
Workshop Operations Management:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring that all work is carried out efficiently and to the highest standards.
Team Supervision:
Lead, support, and motivate a team of technicians, ensuring they are productive and working to VW's service guidelines.
Scheduling & Workload Allocation:
Effectively manage technician schedules and allocate tasks based on skillset and availability to optimize productivity and meet customer deadlines.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular inspections of the work completed, ensuring all repairs meet Volkswagen's quality standards and customer expectations.
Customer Interaction:
Communicate effectively with customers regarding the status of their vehicles, advise on any additional work required, and ensure clear expectations are set around cost, timing, and quality.
Inventory Management:
Ensure adequate stock levels of parts and materials, liaising with the parts department to order and manage supplies.
Health & Safety:
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing all health and safety regulations in the workshop.
Performance Monitoring:
Track performance metrics for the workshop and individual technicians, reporting to senior management on progress and areas for improvement.
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in a workshop management role, preferably within the automotive industry.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse group of technicians.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Experience with scheduling software and workshop management systems (e.g., dealer management systems).
A sound understanding of Volkswagen vehicles and their specific service requirements.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with customers and internal teams.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
Previous experience working within a Volkswagen franchise or similar brand would be an advantage.
Qualifications:
Relevant qualifications in automotive repair/maintenance (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Ideally, experience in a similar Workshop Controller role within a dealership or garage environment.
Full, clean driving license.
