We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Workshop HGV Fitter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in our workshop environment. Your expertise will ensure that all vehicles meet safety standards, operate efficiently, and comply with industry regulations. Duties



Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify mechanical issues and safety concerns. Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks including engine work, brake systems, suspension, steering components, and electrical systems. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering drawings to guide repairs and modifications. Conduct pipe threading, tube bending, soldering, and assembly of components according to industry standards such as ASME codes & standards. Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to execute detailed work accurately. Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with safety protocols. Adhere to all health and safety regulations during workshop operations while promoting a safe working environment for all team members.

Requirements



Proven experience working as an HGV fitter or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role within a workshop setting. Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and mechanical drawings essential for accurate repairs. Mechanical knowledge of heavy vehicle systems such as engines, brakes, suspension, electrical wiring Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, pipe threading equipment, tube benders, soldering irons and rigging gear. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to repairs or fabrication tasks. Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills; able to work independently or as part of a team under tight deadlines.
