Maintenance Technician/General Handyman/Builder

Retroclassic Engineering specialise in the restoration and repair of a wide range of vintage, classic, retro and future classic cars, along with carrying out bespoke modifications and 'restomod' conversions.

We are looking for candidates who have experience in a wide range of DIY tasks including general building tasks/site maintenance, erecting stud walls, bricklaying, concreting, painting & decorating, woodwork/basic carpentry, metalwork and welding to help improve and maintain our site.

Further training and the opportunity to learn a more specialised element of vehicle restoration within either our mechanical or bodyshop departments is a potential route for progression within the company from this role.

This role is primarily based at our main premises in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire which is located just 5 minutes from the M5 Junction 12/13, but also may involve working at our various secure vehicle storage locations in the surrounding areas.

This vacancy is either available on temporary/part time/flexible/freelance basis or for the right candidate, a full-time position.

Your responsibilities will include;

General building/site maintenance and improvement works

Equipment maintenance/improvements as required by the business

Assisting the office/workshops with miscellaneous tasks as required

Van driving and collection/delivery of vehicle parts - local and nationwide

General driving duties and transporting of vehicles to and from our secure storage location

Media/shot blasting and vapour blasting of vehicle parts and vehicles (as required by the business)

Essential skills for this role include;

Painting walls & floors

Woodwork/carpentry and building stud walls

Electrical works - installation of lights, sockets, cable running

General handyman/DIY skills and experience in general building maintenance/improvements

Desirable skills for this role include;

Bricklaying and concreting experience would be desirable but not essential

MIG welding and basic steel fabrication skills are desirable but not essential (training can be provided if needed)

Fork lift truck driving experience/licence is desirable but not essential (training can be provided if needed)

Van driving experience is desirable but not essential

Trailer towing and vehicle transportation experience is desirable but not essential

Basic mechanical, electrical or vehicle bodywork skills along with media blasting experience would be an advantage but is not essential

All candidates are expected to;

Take pride in the quality of their work and carry out all tasks to the highest of standards

Hold a Full UK Manual Driving Licence

Be able to work independently to meet strict deadlines, and work well as part of a team

Possess a strong work ethic, a high level of attention to detail, and be punctual/organised

This role is available as a flexible/part time position with varied hours subject to the needs of the business and availability of the applicant between Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (overtime available outside of these hours).

All candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of our premises in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire, GL2 7LZ.

Rate: 12.50-15.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
